Terms of Service

Last updated 12 August 2026

These terms are between you and Jack Patterson ("we", "us"), trading as Chamomile Chapters, of 62b Marshfield Road, Cardiff, CF3 2UW. By subscribing you agree to them.

They're written in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email stories@chamomilechapters.com and I'll explain it.

1. What the service is

Chamomile Chapters sends you, by email, a new illustrated chapter of a continuing bedtime story written for your child, once each evening at a time and timezone you choose.

Stories are generated by artificial intelligence to a brief we write and maintain, and are automatically checked for age-appropriateness before being sent. They are not written by a human author, and we don't claim otherwise anywhere.

What we promise: to send you a new chapter each evening you're subscribed, to the standard described on our website, and to fix it or refund you if we don't.

What we don't promise: that any particular chapter will suit your child, that delivery will be instantaneous, or that email providers will always place our messages in your main inbox. We also can't promise the service will never be interrupted — see §7.

2. Who can subscribe

You must be 18 or over and have parental responsibility for, or the permission of a person with parental responsibility for, the child whose details you provide.

The service is for personal, family use. You may not resell it, or use the stories commercially, without our written permission.

3. Price and payment

PlanPrice
Monthly£6.99 per month
Every 3 months£17.99 per quarter
Yearly£49 per year

Failed payments. If a payment fails we'll retry a few times over about a week and email you. If it still fails, the subscription pauses rather than being deleted — your child's story is kept for 30 days so you can pick it back up.

4. Your 14-day guarantee, and your legal cancellation rights

Our guarantee. If the service isn't right for your family, tell us within 14 days of your first payment and we'll refund it in full. Reply to any email and ask. No form, no questions, no attempt to talk you out of it.

Your statutory rights. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you separately have a legal right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days of entering into it — the same window as our guarantee, but a different refund calculation.

Because the service begins immediately at your request, you agree that we may start supplying it during that period. Under the statutory right alone, if you cancel within the 14 days you'd be entitled to a refund of the amount you paid, less a proportionate amount for the chapters already supplied. Our guarantee is more generous than that calculation — a full refund, no deduction — and we always apply whichever is better for you, which in practice is always the full refund.

5. Cancelling

Cancel at any time with one click, using the link at the bottom of every email you receive from us. There's no phone call, no form, no retention offer.

When you cancel:

Pausing. Reply "pause" to any email and we'll stop sending until you say otherwise. Billing pauses too.

6. Content, and what you can do with it

7. Interruptions, and when things go wrong

We're a small operation depending on third-party services. Occasionally a chapter may be late, or may not arrive.

If a chapter fails to send, we'll send it as soon as we can, and if there's a sustained failure of more than 3 consecutive days we'll credit or refund you for the affected period without you having to ask.

If a chapter is inappropriate — scary, upsetting, or wrong for your child's age — please reply to the email and tell us. We'll investigate, adjust, and refund you the month if you'd like. We'd genuinely rather know.

Planned changes. We may change or improve the service. If we make a change that materially reduces what you receive, we'll tell you in advance and you can cancel and get a proportionate refund.

8. Ending your subscription from our side

We may suspend or end your subscription if you:

We'll tell you why, and refund any unused portion of what you've paid unless the reason is serious misuse.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in these terms.

Subject to that: we provide a bedtime story service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.

We are not liable for failures caused by things outside our reasonable control — including your email provider filtering, blocking or delaying our messages.

10. Complaints

Email stories@chamomilechapters.com. I read everything and reply, usually within a day or two. If you're not satisfied, say so and I'll escalate it to whatever the escalation is when you're a one-person business — which is me, taking it more seriously.
